FAQs (Updated October 2025)
Our goal is to establish one year-round indoor tennis facility (4-6 courts) in South Georgian Bay. We're currently pursuing two potential pathways to achieve this goal:
The Blue Mountains Public Facility Project: A town-provisioned facility on municipal land, operated through a public-private partnership model where the Town provides the land and courts, and a third-party operator manages the seasonal dome structure.
The Collingwood Community Club Project: A privately funded community tennis club on private land (255 Osler Bluff Road), with seasonal dome coverage for year-round play.
Both models prioritize accessibility and affordability, but through different approaches. We don't believe the region needs two facilities – our objective is for one of these projects to succeed and serve the entire South Georgian Bay community.
We're pursuing both pathways to maximize our chances of success. Municipal projects can face delays due to budget cycles, staff capacity, and political priorities, while private projects can encounter their own challenges with zoning, development charges, and financing.
By working on both simultaneously, we increase the likelihood that at least one facility will be operational in the near term. Our goal is not to build two facilities – we only need one successful project to serve the South Georgian Bay tennis community. Whichever pathway proves viable first will become our focus for completion.
The Blue Mountains Public Facility: Would be built on Town-owned land with municipal support, likely operated through a public-private partnership. Access would be through hourly bookings and programs, similar to other municipal recreation facilities. Pricing would be influenced by municipal recreation policies.
The Collingwood Community Club: Would be built on private land with private investment, operating as a membership-based community club. The owner is committed to keeping it affordable and accessible, with a focus on youth programs, community outreach, and inclusive pricing.
Both models share the same core mission: providing affordable, accessible year-round tennis for South Georgian Bay residents. The difference is primarily in ownership structure and funding source, not in the commitment to serving the community.
Thank you for your support! Your survey response has been invaluable in demonstrating community demand to both The Blue Mountains and Collingwood municipal councils. The data from our 519 responses has directly informed both project pathways.
If you completed the survey, you're already on our mailing list and will receive email updates as both projects progress. If you missed the survey but want to stay informed, please use the contact form below to join our mailing list.

Tennis offers exceptional health benefits, making it one of the healthiest sports in the world. According to research by the Health and Fitness Association, tennis improves cardiovascular fitness, increases flexibility, enhances coordination, and boosts mental health. The World Health Organization recognizes tennis as a key activity that contributes to overall health and well-being.
Key statistics include:
• Tennis players experience a 47% lower risk of cardiovascular disease compared to non-players
• Regular participation can improve cognitive function and reduce the risk of dementia by 20%
• Tennis provides excellent full-body exercise while being lower-impact than many other sports
By establishing year-round indoor facilities, we aim to make these health benefits accessible to South Georgian Bay residents throughout the entire year.
